Tablets in 2012: what to expect

ipad2

In Depth: iPad 3, Ice Cream Sandwich and dead tablets walking 2011 was an amazing year for tablets. Apple’s purple patch continued, bookshops such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble demanded a piece of the action and big-name manufacturers ended up in big, big trouble. HP’s TouchPad and RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook were flops, forcing their manufacturers to embark on massive price cuts – RIM will currently swap a PlayBook for a Mars bar and a few shiny beads – while other firms, such as Dell, exited the Android market altogether. Toshiba Satellite L755D-12L review

Best point: Very nicely priced; capable all-rounder. Worst point: Hard disk is a bit on the small side. Price: £449 inc. VAT The Satellite L755D-12L makes a good initial impression, looking more expensive than it actually is. Not to mention feeling more expensive. While this is a budget laptop, you wouldn’t guess that from the build quality or finish. It’s a very well put together piece of hardware with no corners cut in terms of construction. Windows Phone 7 Spotify app review

Spotify Windows Phone 7 review

Before we look at Spotify, it is worth pointing out that it is up against Microsoft’s own Zune with its monthly unlimited pass, and Nokia’s Nokia Music which takes a very different approach of giving you selection of music to listen to each week. Load the app, sign in and you are [...]
